Senior Biomedical Engineer
* Initiate/conduct research and feasibility studies into the use of AF surgical ablation and mapping products and techniques for the treatment of AF. * Work with cardiac surgeons, electrophysiologists, and consultants on projects related to cardiac arrhythmia mapping of electrical conduction and block. *Conceive new concepts and proposing, planning, executing, evaluating and reporting studies to validate concepts. * Serve as an expert resource for product development engineers in the field of AF treatment and electrophysiology to ensure proper implementation of concepts and features. * Define systems requirements related to capital equipment (optimally physiologic measurement systems) including user interface, physiologic interface, and regulatory compliance. * Design, develop, and test all aspects of medical/surgical components, equipment, and instruments. * Perform analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of medical device systems. * Write, implement, and analyze test cases for system verification/validation testing. * Establish a research plan for prioritization of effort, definition of measurable goals, and planning of activity. * Foster relationships and partnerships with Key Opinion Leaders to support respective initiatives, and to analyze product performance and publish findings. * Ideally, should have an understanding of cardiac anatomy/physiology and must be capable of comprehensive research and communication of details in support of team training. * Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. * Support the creation, documentation, and coordination of new intellectual property associated with the assigned programs and research. * Review and authorize engineering design changes. * May lead and direct the work of other less senior members. * May lead engineering projects. * May work with other engineering teams to increase efficiency, production quality and volume. QUALIFICATIONS: * A Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics (with cardiac emphasis) Degree or equivalent is required; an advanced degree is preferred. * In depth knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, pacing and electrophysiology. * Experience in Cardiac Cath/EP Lab, including interventional experience and / or advanced experience in electrophysiology testing and mapping. * Experience designing and conducting animal research studies. * Ability to integrate concepts and discoveries into realizable new therapies, diagnostics or other new product features. * Ability to work independently and as a strong team member to achieve organizational goals * Experience with patent application process sufficient to provide support to patent attorneys. * Knowledge in using research laboratory equipment or instrumentation * Experience with RF, Ultrasound, or Cryo technology is preferred. * Experience working in an FDA regulated environment. * NASPE certification in cardiac electrophysiology a plus.
